Tolerates deer and black walnut trees.
An awardwinning heirloom variety with graceful blooms that release a slight, sweet scent and pair beautifully with light-coloured tulips in borders and cut-flower arrangements. Each of its tall, strong stems produce racemes filled with 15–20 bell-shaped, down-facing flowers whose plum-purple colouring sometimes makes them appear chocolate brown. Can be planted near black walnut trees, which are toxic to many plants. This member of the lily family is sometimes referred to as a Persian lily.
