Here's a ruffled, subtly hued iris with a hint of gold that makes it glitter in the garden. Its pale cream-coloured standards rise above violet-blue falls, and both sets of petals are dramatically edged in metallic gold. The 14 cm blooms are pleasantly fragrant.
Irises are hardy and easy to grow, with attractive foliage and spectacular flowers. The characteristic bloom form—three upright petals (standards) sitting atop three larger, outer sepals (falls)—makes it one of world's most recognizable flowering plants.
