Introduced in 1869, this richly fragrant heirloom variety is widely regarded as one of the handsomest peonies. Very large, lemon-white double flowers are strongly suffused with yellow from hidden stamens and staminodes when they open. They then change to pure white. Flat at first, the 15–16 cm blooms develop into large balls.

- Planting InstructionsDig a hole large enough to spread out roots without bending them. Set crown with buds 3-5 cm below ground-level. Water in thoroughly. Plant at least 6 weeks before ground freezes.
