Heirloom variety with lovely rose scent
Introduced in France in 1888, Monsieur Jules Elie Peony has remained a favourite for generations. Blooming early in the peony season, it produces large, double, bomb-type flowers measuring up to 20 cm across. The light rose-pink blooms with silver-hued centre petals bid you to take a closer look—and when you do, you're rewarded with a sweet rose fragrance that perfumes the spring air. The flowers look outstanding in bouquets and fresh floral displays. Because of its bloom size, the stems may need staking. An APS Gold Medal winner, Monsieur Jules Elie Peony is a long-lived, sun-loving perennial that looks beautiful in mixed perennial flowerbeds or grouped together along walkways or fences. Deer tend to avoid it.
